The P.E.T.S Fund

Covid-19 has turned our world upside down and put even more of Philadelphia’s dogs and cats at risk of becoming homeless or being abandoned. We want to prevent that, by providing the support necessary to empower people to be in a position to keep their pets.

That’s why in May of 2020, we launched the P.E.T.S. Fund, to help Philadelphians and their pets stay together and help reunite pets with their owners.

As the largest open intake shelter in the region and Philadelphia’s only Animal Care and Control provider, ACCT Philly is on the front lines, helping these pets and their families. In 2020, we took in more than 12,000 animals, which doesn’t include the thousands of pets helped through our pet pantry or other surrender prevention efforts. The P.E.T.S. Fund will help us do even more.

It has helped dogs like London, whose owners wanted desperately to keep her when she became ill. They took her to the vet and were told she needed surgery that would cost $6,000. They began to try to find the funds, but she became sicker, so they brought her to the shelter, hoping someone could help her. Thanks to the P.E.T.S. Fund, we got London the surgery she needed, and the 13 year old Mastiff was reunited with her family.
