The Veterinary Medical Practice Manager (VMPM) leads a dynamic team of shelter medicine
nurses and nurse assistants and liaises with the Shelter Services Manager to provide excellent
medical care to the approximately 18,000 animals that enter ACCT Philly’s animal sheltering
facility each year with an emphasis on productivity, quality of care and growth of shelter medical
activities. ACCT Philly strives to secure humane opportunities for all savable animals as far as
its resources and capacity for care will permit. The VMPM is responsible for day-to-day
operations of the medical department, including but not limited to scheduling and administering
payroll; developing and overseeing training of medical staff; managing supply inventory;
monitoring overall population health; and supervising all aspects of ACCT Philly medical
services. The VMPM oversees a staff of full- and part-time nurses and nurse assistants with
varied levels of experience and skill.
