Love cats?  Want to make a difference in our community and for the cats that live within it?  ACCT Philly’s Community Cats Program is where it’s at!

Our CCP program was initiated through a generous grant from Best Friends Animal Society in 2015. Since that time, ACCT Philly has sterilized thousands of free roaming cats, preventing them from being euthanized in the shelter and reproducing in the community.  From Best Friends: It is estimated that nearly three-quarters of cats who enter our nation’s animal shelters each year don’t make it out alive. Community cat programs (CCPs), which are based upon the trap-neuter-return (TNR) method of population management, therefore, play a critical role in achieving no-kill status in a shelter and the community it serves. Through these shelter-based programs, healthy free-roaming cats are sterilized, vaccinated and returned to the location from which they were trapped.

Our Community Cats Trapping Specialists will be responsible for carrying out the trapping of cats in the community and regular interface with cat caretakers and the general public.  ACCT Philly will hire a total of 3 trappers, which are grant funded positions through August 31 of 2018.  A full job description for the Community Cats Trapping Specialist is available here.
