FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JANUARY 31, 2023

Kansas City, MO/Philadelphia, PA – The teams are set for the big game in Phoenix on Sunday, February 12th, and the two city shelters for the teams making their way to that game are partnering for a friendly competition and adoption special. KC Pet Project is the nonprofit organization that operates the animal shelter and animal control for the City of Kansas City, MO, and ACCT Philly is the only open-intake shelter and animal care and control provider in the City of Philadelphia.

The two shelters are teaming up to find homes for local pets and are offering $57 adoptions on all dogs at their two organizations during their Road to Phoenix special. The special will run from Tuesday, January 31st through Sunday, February 12th. The goal of the special is to help hundreds of dogs find homes prior to the big game. You can view adoptable pets on their websites.

Additionally, the shelters are running a friendly competition to help people and pets in their communities. The shelters are asking for donations for their funds to keep people and their pets together. The shelter who raises the second highest amount will name 10 adoptable pets after the players of the opposing teams. Donations can be made to KC Pet Project’s Keep ‘Em Together fund and ACCT Philly’s P.E.T.S. Fund.

KC Pet Project’s Keep ‘Em Together Fund was formed in 2020 and is a program that focuses on building community partnerships and expanding services to help address the systemic roots of resource inequity in Kansas City.
