The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is hosting their fifth annual America’s Next Top Mutt Photo Contest fundraiser now through Sunday, November 12th. Proud pet lovers can submit their favorite photo at for a chance to win Top Mutt fame: their pet’s portrait on a custom, artist designed ACCT Philly t-shirt!

“This is a perfect opportunity to support your community shelter and give back to animals in need while celebrating the most important animal in your life: your pet!” said Vincent Medley, ACCT Philly Executive Director. “I will be entering my two shelter pups and can’t wait to meet other mutts and mutts-at-heart.”

To enter the contest, participants submit a photo of their pet on the contest website ( and pay the ten dollar entry-fee. Votes are one dollar per vote and must be purchased in $5 increments, but can be spread out among multiple photos. The shelter encourages healthy, fun competition and asks that pet owners share their entry far and wide to attract votes – and donations – from friends and family.

In 2016, over $10,000 was raised through the contest and ACCT Philly hopes to meet or even exceed that number this year. As the city’s open admission animal control shelter, ACCT relies on donations from the public to help fund their lifesaving work for the community’s most needy pets.

“Donations raised through America’s Next Top Mutt photo contest go directly to programs that have an immediate impact,” said Carolyn Fitzgerald, Director of Lifesaving, ACCT Philly. In the past, the contest has supported kennel enrichment, medical care for injured pets, kitten foster supplies, and more.
