Adoption Milestone Marks 4 Year Anniversary

(Philadelphia) – On Saturday, September 15th, Sheila was the ACCT Philly Everyday Adoption Center’s (EAC) 5,000th adoption. So far in 2018 the EAC has already had 1,069 adoptions, about one third of all adoptions from ACCT Philly.

The ACCT Philly EAC first opened its doors in 2014 inside the Plymouth Meeting PetSmart store, one of twenty PetSmart Charities’ Everyday Adoption Centers located across the United States. The Plymouth Meeting EAC is the only one in Pennsylvania, and is a critical part of ACCT Philly’s lifesaving programs.

Thank you to all of the staff, fosters, volunteers, and adopters who made this milestone possible,” said Guthrie Conyngham, Offsite Manager and head of the EAC. “We loved being a part of each and every dog and cat’s story and can’t wait to help find more forever homes.” Conyngham has seen how much the adoption center has grown in its short lifetime, and knows the staff will continue to build on their life-saving impact on Philadelphia’s homeless pets.

Sheila, the lucky pitbull who was adoption number 5,000, had already been adopted and returned once. “She is such a happy, social butterfly,” commented Conyngham. “It’s fitting that our 5,000th adoption is a pittie, representative of the majority of dogs that come through the shelter. We are so glad Sheila finally gets the home she deserves.”

The ACCT Philly Everyday Adoption Center is part of a nationwide initiative from PetSmart Charities with the goal of saving more homeless pets. Since May 2010, PetSmart Charities has helped save more than 568,926 pets by opening similar adoption centers across North America.

The EAC is open seven days a week for adoptions, and houses dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Visit their webpage to see current adoption hours, directions, and available pets:
